More player models 1.13 mods#
There's this Polish website that has a lot of mods to download which are mostly kept up to date, you should check it out. I had to adapt to it because I couldn't get into it at first, because I didn't know what to do precisely but later, after a while I figure it out and grew into it and into these mods. I also downloaded many other mods like 'Arulco Vacations, Arulco Reloaded, Arulco Vacations, Vengeance Reloaded.īascially a lot of mods :D I really like them and I adore the game, it's really awesome.

I'd advise you to install AIMNAS (big-maps, awesome) over that installation to have a fuller game and one where you can choose which mod to play. Install Ja2 Gold, put 1.13 'SCI Installer' (I have build 8336) from zipfile in Ja2 Gold folder and you're 1.13 play-ready. Ursprünglich geschrieben von Napalm:Guys, can I install 1.13 mod with the steam version following the same procedure of non steam version? I recently purchased JA2 on Steam, but i want to play it with 1.13 mod installed. Remember all the waiting and anticipation for JA3? Who would've thought. Hopefully someone takes control of the project and refocuses it, but this is very unlikely in what is now a very, very old game. I really was a bit shocked to come back all these years later as someone who played a lot of JA2, and see this mod ridden with some of the most absurd feature creep I've seen in a long time. Which is how it's lost sight of what it was originally trying to achieve, but anyway. Again, the only people familiar with what needs turning off and on, are those people heavily invested in it emotionally who follow the development very closely and won't stand for any criticism of it. Hiding everything behind a billion different ini options is no substitute. It's a shame as some minor tweaking to AI etc could really improve the game, but it requires restraint from people retouching the original. Just updates the game with high res, nice and stable. There's a saying - 'less is more', and it's not unusual for community driven projects to degenerate like this. Now they've made this mod which really has lost all sight of what it was trying to achieve.Īnything and everything has been thrown in there, and it has completely stuffed the game. It's ironic, the reason they are fans is because of that well tuned balance. JA2 was a very finely balanced game, and I'm not sure the 1.13 have any real understanding of what it takes to make that so. It's become a project which is of more interest to the developers and the community that follows it closely.

I got the features I wanted in, so in the end, who am I to say slow down on getting your features in? So code-wide changes like feature locks became very complicated messes to try and make happen. It also posed the same problem (moving target) for developers like myself who just didn't have the time to keep up with everyone elses code. The biggest problem I had with its development was the moving target it provided for modders and the lack of a feature-lock option for them so they could balance around the core mod and lock feature settings in place that couldn't be changed in their mod. So yeah, 1.13 is probably not for everyone but for the most part, it did stay true it's original intent. They created living, breathing virtual worlds unlike any other development studio of their era and we can thank them for the foundation that the Skyrims of today are built upon. SirTech was an amazing development studio that didn't get half the recognition they deserved. But it has helped keep this game alive for almost 2 decades. It can be complicated to setup and configure, and definitely not recommended for the faint of heart or the brand new player, it can absolutely turn you off of JA2 if you don't have a basis of experience. When you throw together an international development team of hardcore fans feature creep is to be expected.Īnd yes, if you've seen the original source code, you would know that you absolutely HAVE to be a hardcore fan to even want to look at it, much less turn it into what it is today. Even early on, we all realized that JA2 fans were passionate about it and everyone wanted their own features in the game. One of the founding principles of the mod was to avoid forcing anything on anyone and to allow for as close to a complete vanilla game as possible. I'm biased though, and I can set a few records straight.

How is a person biased by asking a question they want to know the answer to? I think it seems biased to tell someone to not ask questions about a subject.
